Hey guys it’s Jahoots! Today I’m going to show you a super fun F2P deck I have been using with lots of success on ladder in the Master 1 League.
Hog Freeze decks have not been popular for a very long time and I rarely see anybody use it anymore, so I decided to give it a shot just for fun because not many people expect Freeze in this current meta.
Here’s the deck!
Hog Freeze Is Back!
Card Breakdown
Hog Rider: Main Win condition. Pretty self explanatory but this guy can hurt the Tower if he is left undefended but he usually just gets at least 1-2 hits per push which is good because you can slowly chip down the opponent’s Tower. Combined with Freeze at the right time he can completely destroy the Tower.
Freeze: I love this card. You will want to keep this card hidden almost every game until double Elixir time because you will use it as a surprise card! This card can have your opponent think you’re playing a normal Hog deck, then you Freeze out of nowhere and get the Tower for a clutch win!
Cannon: Awesome defensive building. Use against Hog, Giant Golem etc. Try to keep this card in cycle for when your opponent has his tank or Hog in cycle to make defending easier.
Mini P.E.K.K.A: I think this card is very underrated, but if used correctly he provides excellent value. The reason I use this little guy instead of Knight is because he is much better at defending rg, Hog, and Giant due to his insane DPS. Also, he can be placed on top of glass cannons to destroy them quickly!
Fire Spirits: Great utility card that provides excellent value in certain situations. You can use Fire Spirits to take out swarms for cheap, and also send them with your Hog if you know that the opponent is going to counter your Hog with a swarm card like Barbarians or Minion Horde.
Minions: Good DPS, strong defending card that can also be used to counter push. Send them behind your Hog or use to distract opponent Inferno Tower if they have it.
Zap: A great utility spell. Self-explanatory, you all know that it’s used on swarms, and to reset Sparky/Inferno Tower/Inferno Dragon.
Rocket: This can be used as another surprise card to finish off a Tower in the end. You can also hit a Wizard, Executioner, Bowler, Witch etc. along with the Tower when they drop it at the back. Excellent pump killer as well. Also if you are having trouble with Elite barbs, practice Rocket timing so that you can hit the Elite barbs as they are running towards your Tower.
Deck Strategy and Battle Plan
3:00- 2:30
Situation 1: Opponent plays tank at the back.
If you have Hog in hand, rush the other lane with Fire Spirits or Minions behind a Hog. They will be forced to use Elixir on defending your Hog and won’t have Elixir left to support their tank. Then you can just use Cannon or Mini P.E.K.K.A to take out the tank.
Situation 2: Opponent plays Elixir pump.
If you have Rocket in hand, Rocket that thing to bits! If you don’t have Rocket in hand, rush with Hog and Minions or Fire Spirits. They won’t know you have Rocket then, so you can always just Rocket their next pump.
Situation 3: Opponent does not make a move.
Try to wait them out, but if you have Hog in hand, after about 20 seconds send a lone Hog to see what counters they have for it.
Situation 4: Opponent rushes you with Hog or Giant at the front.
If he rushes with a lone Hog or Giant, defend with Mini P.E.K.K.A OR Minions OR Cannon (preferably Cannon in this situation).
If he puts troops behind the Hog or Giant, then pull the Hog/Giant with Cannon and take out support troops with Mini P.E.K.K.A or Minions.
2:30 to 1:00
During this time you should have found out what kind of deck your opponent is playing from the first minute, so you can adjust your game plan accordingly.
Every time they play tank at the back, rush other side, every time they pump or play glass Cannon at the back, use Rocket on it if you know that you have around the same Elixir as them.
If they are playing Hog Rider, just keep your Cannon in cycle and you should be fine.
If they are playing Graveyard, make sure you keep your Minions for when they play Graveyard and if they arrow your Minions, you can always drop Fire Spirits or Zap to clean things up.
1:00 – End of match
During double Elixir time and or overtime, you will want to play aggressive as long as you are not down by a ton of Elixir.
During this time period, you will want to bring out your surprise card: Freeze!
Try to continually send Hog pushes while hovering Freeze on the screen, and if you opponent defends with a troops or buildings that are close to the Tower, Freeze all of it!
Your Hog will go to town on the Tower, and then you should defend the counter push using minimal Elixir so that you have enough Elixir to go right back on the offense with Hog Freeze!
Matchups
Giant/Golem beatdown: Pretty easy matchup if you play correctly.
Be aggressive with opposite lane pushups when they drop their Golem or Giant at the back, then defend the Giant/Golem with Cannon and you should be fine.
Royal Giant: Mini P.E.K.K.A is your best friend.
As soon as your opponent drops Royal Giant at the bridge, place Mini P.E.K.K.A right on top of him and the Royal Giant will get shredded.
If they drop Minions or other squishy troops behind Royal Giant, put Fire Spirits to accompany your Mini P.E.K.K.A in the destruction of his push.
Hog cycle: It’s hard for opponent to outcycle you because you have 2 great Hog counters! Cannon and Mini P.E.K.K.A wreck the Hog. If they keep pulling your own Hog with a building, then you can always Rocket cycle in double Elixir time.
Lavaloon: Definitely the hardest matchup but you can win if you apply heavy pressure to the opposite lane when they drop Lava hound. This way they will have to spend Elixir on defense and not get enough for Balloon behind the hound.
However, when they do get Balloon behind the Hound, you can Rocket it then Minions or Fire Spirits to finish off the Balloon.
Log Bait: Usually in these matches I will use Zap on the Goblin Barrel if it kills the Goblins, however if it doesn’t I will use Fire Spirits.
Try to send your Hog with Fire Spirits most of the time (usually they will try to defend with squishy Log bait troops). If the opponent can defend your Hog successfully, be patient and defend.
hen in double Elixir time, start using Freeze. If this doesn’t work, then just Rocket cycle their Tower.
SplashYard: This is another very hard matchup.
Try to play very safely in the beginning. Take out their Knight and Bowler with Mini P.E.K.K.A. Defend Graveyard with Minions and Fire Spirits and Zap.
What you will want to do is if they have one of your towers damaged, push the other lane so that their counter push is into the Tower with more health.
The Tornado will usually completely counter your Hog so usually I end up resorting to Rocket cycling their Tower.
Three Musketeers: Good matchup because you can ignore their pump and push heavily with Hog when they pump. Then on defense you can Rocket their 3m or use Mini P.E.K.K.A.
Conclusion
Overall this deck is really fun to play just because of how satisfying a good Freeze is.
Nothing better than watching your opponent spam the angry face after they defend your Hog with Barbarians and you Freeze all of it to watch the Hog destroy the Tower. And best part about the deck….. No legendaries! All of you F2P’s can use it to push on ladder just like I did. If you have any questions or comments about the deck or battle plan, just ask in the comment section and I will tell you what to do
